Cut out fuse units also known as cut-out fuses or cut-out switches, are used in primary overhead feeder lines and taps to protect distribution transformers against current surges and overloads in electrical distribution. These are inserted before a transformer will shield it from overcurrent situations, similar to the breakers in your home. In the cut out fuse units fuse holder, a 30A fuse link, for instance, can be inserted. These will then activate if the transformer draws 40 amps for more than a few seconds, thereby cutting the transformer off from the power source and safeguarding it from damage.
